Early Recovery & Rehabilitation & Reconstruction

The overwhelming floods of 2010 and 2011 have resulted massive damages in the most of the areas of Pakistan. Qatar Charity exertion at that crucial time was significant to save the lives of communities from horrendous floods of this decade. To build up the living standards of local desperate communities affected by flood 2010 and 2011, Qatar Charity planned to recover the accessible livelihoods of local communities.

Shelter Construction:

In order to restore the existing livelihood to improve living condition, Qatar Charity constructed  3700 disaster resilient one room shelters with WASH facilities in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan (South Punjab), Muzafarabad (AJ & K).These shelters brought a significant change in the 2010 flood affected communities in the form of feeling of protection and willingness towards improvement.

Restoration of livelihoods:

To provide the sustainable income generation opportunities to the flood affected communities of Rajanpur-Punjab, Qatar Charity initiated its programme entitled “livelihood Recovery”. The core objective of the entire livelihood support programme was to restore the livelihood resources, of the target population through income enhancement at household level, thus improving their living standards. Various activities were designed and tailored according to livelihood needs of the poor communities.
