Emergency Response:  
Flood 2011  

After one year devastating floods of 2010, Pakistan faced again rain related emergency. The spell of monsoon rain  that started in the second week of August  evolved large-scale disaster in the various part of countries .Sindh is the worst affected by the heavy rain falls.22 district out of 23 have been  almost demolished out of which 10 districts are badly affected. The damages occurred by 2011 flood is as mentioned below:

  • Over than 5 million people including 31% women adversely affected by over whelming floods of 2011.
  • Over than 199 people have been lost. 4.2 million acres of land is damaged.
  • 80% of WASH facilities partially or completed damaged due to which health and hygiene conditions were deprived.
  • Acute shortage of clean drinking water .
  • Lack of privacy and safety and forced to defecate in open.
  • 80% of cash crops badly damaged including dates, chili, sugarcane and cotton which also affected on the food prices in the flood         affected areas.

Qatar Charity responded immediately through providing the assistance to 1000 flood affected families with relief i.e; Shelters & NFIs, WASH and Food Distribution.
